We would love to photograph your child at any age, however we have created a list of especially important milestones for you to keep in mind when planning to have your child’s portrait done.
Maternity: The best time to start photographing your baby is before he or she is even born! Imagine being able to show your child a beautiful maternity portrait of "when you were in Mommy's tummy". We find that the best time to schedule a maternity portrait is around the sixth month of pregnancy. At this point, you are far enough along so that you have a beautiful baby bump, but not so far in your pregnancy that you feel uncomfortable.
Newborn – 3 months: Your new baby is here! The first few months fly by, so let us capture this fleeting moment in time. Of course we’ll photograph Baby’s sweet face, chubby cheeks and tiny fingers and toes, but consider a pose or two with your child. You are the most important person in your baby’s life and capturing that relationship makes for stunning photos.
6 – 9 months: Your baby can smile, laugh and is usually able to sit up by his or her self. We will capture the sparkle of personality that is beginning to shine through.
1 year: Happy Birthday, Baby! Mark this huge milestone with a fun portrait session, or even an on-location shoot at your baby’s birthday party.
18 months: By 18 months your baby will be gaining some independence and can stand and walk by his or her self. A great time for standing portraits (if baby will cooperate, of course)!
2 years: Your baby is not a baby anymore, but a full-blown toddler- running (everywhere), playing and interacting more. This may be a great time for some outdoor photos where your child can run around (and blow off a little steam).
3 years: Three year olds are fun! Your child can jump, run and play which makes for fun active shots. At this age your child can take direction and often likes to be helpful. This can make for some very creative photos!
4 years: Four year olds are curious, bright, active – and hilarious. At this point we can really capture your child’s personality.
5 years: What a huge milestone! Your child is at that wonderful point between baby and childhood. He or she is entering kindergarten and learning all sorts of new things. At this point we can create portraits that have a whole new level of maturity to them while still capturing the innocence of childhood.
