Clothing:

  • Bring a variety of chothes that you like and feel comfortable in.

  • Avoid shirts with very busy or graphic patterns on them, solid colored shirts work very well.

  • Make sure all clothing is as wrinkle free as possible.

  • Sleeveless shirts tend to draw attention away from the face, so they are not an ideal choice for portraits.

  • Team uniforms or any clothing related to your extracurricular activies are an excellent addition to your portrait session.

  • For your yearbook composite image, please bring an outfit that complies with your school's guidelines. In general, this include a non low-cut shirt for girls, and usually a nice button-down shirt for boys with optional tie and jacket. The photograph will just be sholders and up, so don't worry about bringing dress pants and shoes- unless you would like to be photographed formally during the rest of your session.

When in doubt with clothing choices, bring them all! I will be happy to help you choose outfits that will photograph well before we start the session.

Grooming:

  • If you would like to get a haircut before your appointment, please do so 1-2 weeks in advance so that it has time to "grow in" a bit. Please do not try a new hairstyle for your session, we want the photos to look like you!

  • Girls: Make sure your eyebrows are just how you like them, and wear your make-up the way you normally do. If you would like to do something special, play up the eyes as they stand out the most in my style of portraiture. A new tube of mascara is a very good idea to avoid clumps.

  • Boys: Please shave or neatly groom any facial hair, including sideburns.

These tips are designed to help you prepare for your senior portraits, and put you at ease. If you ever have any questions prior to a session, please do not hesitate to call - I am always more than happy to answer any questions you may have.
